Kent School review by University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill student.
The academics at Kent School were excellent. The school's student population of around 565 students allows the school to offer a wide breadth of courses while still allowing for an intimate learning environment. Kent offers a number of AP courses, and students often are able to transfer a number of these courses into college credit upon graduation. I personally received credit for 2 econ classes, a statistics course, 2 English courses, and 2 math courses. The course load is big, and students are expected to get their work done without someone telling them explicitly to do so - this instills a great sense of independence and accomplishment, and students are thus adequately prepared for an environment in college where there is even more independence. Class room discussion was encouraged in all courses, and teachers encouraged students to come meet with them during free-periods. This was immensely beneficial when applying these habits to college academics, as many students who were not lucky enough to have discussion based classes often fall behind in class due to a lack of self-confidence. Class sizes were almost always in 12-15 students, and many faculty members live on campus, and are often around campus, making them easy to get in touch with.

For the interview, dress conservatively. Try to be very clean and put together. Also, I was a tour guide for two years and at the end of every tour, we were asked to evaluate the candidate so if you think the tour is not apart of the process, you are very wrong. Ask questions and be interested. Also, tip for the parents: the kids speak on the tour. Do not ask their questions for them...
Most younger siblings have an easy time in the admissions process. I can only think of one case of a younger sibling not being admitted. About half of the students who entered with me had come from public schools. The remainder came from private K-6 schools, or had transferred from other New York private schools The Elizabeth Morrow School and St. Bernard were two of the larger feeder schools...
