Marlborough School review by .

I think the academics are amazing at Marlborough. There are a bunch of different levels, so that everyone can benefit. There are a wide range of course for the girls to choose from, and all the teachers couldn't be happier teaching at Marlborough. Having these teachers 100% dedicated is fantastic because if you are struggling in a class or even just have a question, they are more than willing to meet with you one on one at any time. I truly believe that if I did not go to Marlborough, I would not have been as prepared for college as I was. I think that Marlborough teaches you how to write as a college student, starting in 10th grade, they teach you how to think out of the box, and they teach you to not be afraid to ask questions. Coming from Marlborough I am confident in the classroom, which really helps me in my studies. It was interesting to see because one of my professors came up to me on the first day of class, and complimented me on my confidence just because I had asked a question in class. He said that most girls are usually afraid to speak up. I looked at him and said that that would not be an issue.

College Counseling

I think that college counseling at Marlborough was very helpful. The college counselors were there....

Sample insights on college counseling

  • They have contacts at most of the major universities and feel perfectly comfortable picking up the phone and advocating for a student to get accepted somewhere they feel is a good fit for that student. However, these counselors are certainly not magic bullets. They cannot guarantee that a student will get into an Ivy League university...
  • For those wishing to move on to Oxford or Cambridge, the provision is second-to-none. In the months running up to application and interview, every subject faculty offers classes (often run by former Oxbridge tutors) exploring further areas of their subject as well as offering advice on personal statements, interview technique and more...

Admissions - Getting Accepted

Although the admissions process is always nerve racking, I thought that Marlborough really made the....

Sample insights on admissions

  • For the interview, dress conservatively. Try to be very clean and put together. Also, I was a tour guide for two years and at the end of every tour, we were asked to evaluate the candidate so if you think the tour is not apart of the process, you are very wrong. Ask questions and be interested. Also, tip for the parents: the kids speak on the tour. Do not ask their questions for them...
  • Most younger siblings have an easy time in the admissions process. I can only think of one case of a younger sibling not being admitted. About half of the students who entered with me had come from public schools. The remainder came from private K-6 schools, or had transferred from other New York private schools The Elizabeth Morrow School and St. Bernard were two of the larger feeder schools...

School Life

Student life at Marlborough is amazing. Being a part of Marlborough you really feel like a family. From sporting events to theater events to dance events to community service events, the school is very involved. One thing that I loved about the Marlborough community was that not only were the students involved, but so where the teachers and their families. It was great to be at community service event and then be working with your physics teacher, who has come to support the cause, but also to support you because you threw it. This community has formed me into the....
