Academic

Webb Schools review by .

Webb's academic program is phenomenal. The work load is certainly intense, and time management/organizational skills is something forced upon each student from the start. Webb rears each of its student into well-rounded, intelligent, hard-working individuals who can balance the unthinkable and still come out ahead. Webb is all about challenging yourself and pushing yourself far beyond your limits. The academic environment can be quite stressful, however competition is more within each individual to push themselves. The community practices a healthy competition amongst students, however everyone in general is very supportive and encouraging of each other. The faculty are so supportive and caring, however they set very high expectations for their students. The majority of faculty live on campus and in the dorms and are on campus literally 24/7. Faculty members do not have lives outside of Webb -- they are on campus 24/7, either teaching, coaching, supervising, counseling, etc.

College Counseling

Webb's college counseling program prides itself on the fact that each year, in the entire....

Sample insights on college counseling

  • They have contacts at most of the major universities and feel perfectly comfortable picking up the phone and advocating for a student to get accepted somewhere they feel is a good fit for that student. However, these counselors are certainly not magic bullets. They cannot guarantee that a student will get into an Ivy League university...
  • For those wishing to move on to Oxford or Cambridge, the provision is second-to-none. In the months running up to application and interview, every subject faculty offers classes (often run by former Oxbridge tutors) exploring further areas of their subject as well as offering advice on personal statements, interview technique and more...

Admissions - Getting Accepted

Webb is always looking to recruit the most well-rounded individuals. Honor is HUGE at Webb....

Sample insights on admissions

  • For the interview, dress conservatively. Try to be very clean and put together. Also, I was a tour guide for two years and at the end of every tour, we were asked to evaluate the candidate so if you think the tour is not apart of the process, you are very wrong. Ask questions and be interested. Also, tip for the parents: the kids speak on the tour. Do not ask their questions for them...
  • Most younger siblings have an easy time in the admissions process. I can only think of one case of a younger sibling not being admitted. About half of the students who entered with me had come from public schools. The remainder came from private K-6 schools, or had transferred from other New York private schools The Elizabeth Morrow School and St. Bernard were two of the larger feeder schools...

School Life

Webb is the most special place that could ever exist. It is almost like a fairy tale, with loving friends and family members that support you and care for you more than anyone else ever will in this world. It's a place where your entire community believes in you and loves you for the unique individual you are. It is the safest, most secured place you could ever be -- not only, physically safe, but emotionally and mentally safe, as well. Alumni funds are continuously pouring into the school, thus enabling improvements in the overall quality of life, each year.....
