The Academics is definately one of Deerfield Academy's strong suits. The teachers really do care about your performance, and is willing to not just lecture but also guide students throughout. Deerfield academics is not as exam-focused as most other schools. The rigor of studies there really prepared me for college.

For the interview, dress conservatively. Try to be very clean and put together. Also, I was a tour guide for two years and at the end of every tour, we were asked to evaluate the candidate so if you think the tour is not apart of the process, you are very wrong. Ask questions and be interested. Also, tip for the parents: the kids speak on the tour. Do not ask their questions for them...
Most younger siblings have an easy time in the admissions process. I can only think of one case of a younger sibling not being admitted. About half of the students who entered with me had come from public schools. As far as food goes, there are no complaints. Deerfield still utilizes a dress code, which must be worn during special "Sit-down" meals - where you sit at a predesignated table with faculty family style. Walk-though meals are somewhat more lacking, but overall the dining quality is far above par. The neighborhood is rural, as the school is situated in a small town. Activities can sometimes be lacking, but the surroundings is beautiful and very safe. Although you can feel that the student body oozes wealth, more than 30% of the students receive some form of financial aid....
